DESCRIPTION

Green Rose Lattice is a color pencil drawing on medium tooth vellum paper. The work was done using a circular burnishing lawyering technique with minor engraving and black ink for additional highlights and contrasts. Approximately 14 hours of creation.

INTERPRETATION

Green Rose Lattice was drawn by Shawn Malzahn while incarcerated during the winter of 2016 as a Christmas gift for his mother. Looking closely we see that the vines spell “mom”, and is meant to be interpreted as constant growth despite fences or barriers.
