DESCRIPTION

Dutiful Anton is a color pencil drawing on medium tooth vellum paper. The work was done using a circular burnishing lawyering technique with minor engraving for additional highlights. Approximately 10 hours of creation.

INTERPRETATION

Dutiful Anton was drawn by Shawn Malzahn while incarcerated during the fall of 2021 as a gift for his father. The ant (Anton) is demonstrating the timeless practice of character development as he performs his duty to carry the seeds of meaningful purpose, rational beliefs, wholesome values, and moral principles with him wherever he goes. These are the roots and nutrition that we as developing dandelions grow from.
